"Runaway Lightning," copyright Pete Mesling. This one's not easily put into words, but maybe that's why it's an instrumental. There's something of hopeful melancholy in its bloodstream, I think. Recorded February 2012.

"Still Falling," copyright Pete Mesling. Written in the spirit of love and renewal, with a wink to mutability and decay. Recorded February 2012.

"Adrift," copright Pete Mesling. Just having a little spontaneous fun here, although the piece emerged from a rather black mood. Recorded February 2012.

"Theme from Hatari!", by Henry Mancini, arrangement by Michael Hedges. Recorded September 2011.

"Open to Enchantments", copyright Pete Mesling. This is an older piece of mine. I remember that it kind of fell from my hands one day after I tuned my guitar to open D. You've got to love it when that happens. Recorded September 2011.

I whipped up this arrangement of "Ready or Not" by Michael Hedges before I fully realized how pervasive his revolutionary approach to the instrument was throughout his music. There was freedom in my blissful ignorance, I suppose. I can no longer imagine going after one of his pieces by ear, without knowing the tuning, and having anything like confidence that I'd end up with suitable results. But back then, there was no question that I was going to figure out a way to play "Ready or Not." The tuning and technique are my own in this version of the song. I've even altered the melody a tad, but I hope Hedges' signature can still be discerned. Recorded May 2011.

When my daughter was just learning to walk, she used to take countless laps through the house we were living in at the time. Observing this amusing phenomenon while fiddling around on my guitar gave rise to "Just Passin' Through", copyright Pete Mesling. Recorded February 2011.

"Hold Me Back Tonight", copyright Pete Mesling. This song was based, precognitively, on a true story. Recorded November 2010.

"Yakima", copyright Pete Mesling. Nothing profound to report here. Just having a bit of a laugh. Recorded October 2010.

"One Man's Junk", copyright Pete Mesling. If you want to give the original fingerstyle version of this piece a listen, it can be found on my Music page. Recorded September 2010.

"Holding Pattern", copyright Pete Mesling. If I hadn't already written a piece of music titled "When Clouds Part," I may have used the title for this guitar solo. Both tunes, at any rate, comment on the spirit of transformation that defines us at certain times in our lives. Recorded September 2010.

"The Devil's On Your Heels", copyright Pete Mesling and Corey Johnson. My first piece of music for this instrument. Recorded September 2010.
